Civic Alliance Vice Chair David Maron Joins P-20 Core Council

David Maron, a Ventura County business owner and leader in the nonprofit community is the newest member of the Core Council of the Ventura County P-20 Council. Maron is the owner of Maron Computer Services, which develops software for the health insurance industry. He is also the Vice Chair of the Ventura County Civic Alliance, which works to promote the economic, environmental and social equity interests of our region.

On the P-20 Core Council, Maron joins a group of local leaders who are dedicated to building ties between the business and education communities and helping prepare students to meet the workforce needs of local employers. “We are thrilled to have someone with David’s experience and local connections join the organization,” said P-20 Council Chair and Ventura County Superintendent of Schools Stan Mantooth. “One of the P-20 Council’s primary goals is to help educators better connect with local businesses and David will be a great asset in that endeavor.”

At the Civic Alliance, Maron oversees the creation of the biennial State of the Region Report, which compiles extensive data on key indicators of the county’s quality of life, including education. He also manages the Civic Alliance’s business intermediary role with the Oxnard Union High School District to promote career pathways for students and he is a member of the IT Guild, which helps prepare local students for careers in information technology. “Increased coordination between business and education is one of the keys to economic growth in Ventura County,” Maron said. “The P-20 Council is at the forefront of that effort and I’m excited to be joining the team.”

The P-20 Council helps coordinate internship and job-shadowing opportunities, promotes STEM education and has facilitated more than $100 million in educational grants. A complete listing of P-20 Core Council members is available at www.vcp20.org/core-council-members.
